3D Sonograms // meet your alien baby

Janet and I have started the sonogram tracking of our child. She's not so fond of showing off the yet-blurry images of our evolving child, but I don't mind sharing photos of our shrimp-kid. The one thing we've been warned of across the board by friends and co-workers is to avoid the 3D sonogram at all costs. Apparently the technology exists to get a somewhat clear image of your unborn child's features, but we've heard that the results are not pleasant. Rumors of over-accentuated features (like our noses aren't accentuated enough) make me think we'll pass on this technology.

Has anybody had the 3D sonogram done? What does something like that cost? And did it freak you out?

Well, here is the update that I promised.

I think she looks fairly similar to the 3D image.

Well I will let you know in about 8 weeks how close it actually was.

Thanks for your counterpoint, Beebes! Yeah, I didn't think yours looked any different from when the kid actually comes out. Hmmm, may have to investigate this further.

We had it done. I don't think anything was over-accentuated, It was kinda cool to watch because it was all done on the same machine as the regular ultrasounds and it was just a button click to switch between the two. You can see a picture of our baby Raelynn here.

It cost us about $200.00 the upside to this is that each time we have an ultrasound from now they will give us a 3d image as well.
