Kidding

kid·ding \ˈki-diŋg\ noun : the art of bearing children

You've probably heard it said that pregnant women seem to "radiate" in their delicate state. You might be surprised to learn that there is some scientific justification for that prenatal polish.

The glow, which usually shows up during the second trimester, is actually a symptom of physical changes going on in the body. During pregnancy, blood volume can increase by almost 50 percent. This increased blood volume causes the cheeks of women to take on a healthy reddish blush. Pregnancy hormones also cause increased secretions from the oil glands, and this leaves the face nice and shiny. The result, a glow of motherhood!

Not sure if I felt like I was "glowing"....at least in the complimentary sense. But we are our own worst critic, right?

But that does explain the issues with my complexion during that time....

Upon finding out that I was pregnant, a colleague said to me, "You do have that pregnant glow." I was annoyed and replied, "That’s just my sweat." I guess I was kind of correct!
